Unclipped Wings

Some writing is not as polished or clever that I will post. But I want to more regularly put my stuff out there. This is 9 years old. And I still understand this Emily.

There is a party going on
With music
There's a beat
My hands are awkward
But that doesn’t stop my feet.
I leave to put my dress on
With excitement, do my hair
And when I reach the dance
I am the only one there.
With my red dress on, I stand
In the middle of the floor
Touch my face, like I exist
And look over at the door.
Everyone manages to leave
When I have finally come
And all I want one time
Is to have a night
Of unbridled fun
And what I want
Is to be seen and to be known
I want unclipped wings

To know what it is to have flown.

I found this one from a month before.

Please see me when I step into the shadows
Of my own volition.

Draw me out and
See me.

Dance with me and parade me
In front of all
And everyone

Twirl me
And keep me
And then leave me to dance by myself

Smiling from the side
Like you have never
Seen something
So wondrous

Let the lights of the ballroom
Reflect from my hair

And may I always be the one with the red dress on
Never swallowed by the other dancers

But visible as one from a whole.
